The Friends of Sangam International (FOSI) has many individual country groups, each of which operates slightly differently. All are a way for Sangam enthusiasts to join together and keep in touch with other members of the Sangam Family.

Depending on the country members enjoy get-togethers, fund-raising events, e-mail chat groups, reunions, newsletters and outings. Most importantly Friends are kept up to date on the latest news from Sangam, property developments, future event information and other important announcements. Friends also receive Country, Region and International Friends newsletters throughout the year.

In some countries, due to regulations on fund-raising within National Girl Guiding / Girl Scouting Organisations, it is not possible to have a specific Friends of Sangam Group. In these countries there are other support networks such as Sangam Ambassadors groups. All of these remain part of the Friends of Sangam International.

The most important thing that FOSI members do is to spread the word to others about coming to Sangam and participating in events. By sharing the Sangam Spirit, returning to Sangam and sharing information with new visitors, FOSI members ensure that Sangam will be here for many years to come.

Fundraising

Despite aiming to break even operationally, Sangam relies on donations for some of its major property work, the purchase of major items and for scholarships and travel grants. Through fund-raising FOSI members work to ensure that Sangam can continue to move forward and offer international opportunities to WAGGGS members from all five WAGGGS regions.

The following countries and regions have FOSI Groups:

Argentina, Asia Pacific, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Europe, Finland, Guatemala, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Mumbai (India), Republic of China, Sri Lanka, UK, USA, Western Hemisphere,Africa Region ,Cook Islands, Nepal, New Zealand, Poland Portugal, Honduras, St Lucia, Trinidad.

Anyone can become a member of a FOSI group. All that it takes is the desire to help Sangam. You can become a friend either by joining a specific country group or if your country does not have a group, by joining FOSI as an individual (Sangam Link). You do not have to live in the country of a FOSI group in order to join.

Each country group has a different membership system with most groups charging an annual fee. All countries have a Chair who coordinates the group. There are also regional chairs.
