Poona School & Home for the Blind

The goal of the Poona School and Home for the Blind (for boys) is to develop each students maximum potential – physical, social, mental – and to prepare him for productive life in the society where his family will reside independently or within his family circle.

In addition to the hostel and school, the institution also includes Nursery for blind children; Teacher training centre to educate teachers working with blind children; Vocational training, where students learnt to live independently, including learning to light stoves, prepare simple meals, housekeeping etc. The school has an active Scout Troop. There is also a strong music programme. The boys perform locally for a wide variety of audiences.
